Misha Nonoo Debuts Denim For Resort 2016

Back in March, we interviewed Misha Nonoo‘s assistant Grace Hwang, and she told us no one wears jeans in the pickedlooks evening dresses. Surprise! Nonoo has changed her tune and introduced jeans for Resort, and we can’t wait to get our hands on her takes on denim.

The collection included denim skirts, denim dresses, and a pair of wide-leg jeans that we imagine will be flying off the racks. The entirety of the collection, including the photo shoot, was inspired by artist Judith Eisler‘s solo exhibition, “Close-Ups & Two Shots”.

The blurred images of females by Eisler inspired the converging graphic lines on pieces like a knit sweater dress and menswear inspirations took form in wide leg trousers, crepe jumpsuits, and dresses and jumpsuits fashioned after vests. Even with her newfound love for denim, there is always an underlying sense of sophistication in Nonoo’s collections, which is why she can take elements of the ’70s trend and make it distinctly her own.

Chloe Grace Moretz In Coach – 2015 Met Gala

Chloe Grace Moretz also hit the red carpet of the 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City tonight (May 4).

The young actress wore a short, sleeveless Coach dress and Coach wristlet with some fun and well-placed jewels, including a http://www.pickedlooks.com/evening-dresses-c_13/.

Does Chloe look fantastic? Absolutely. Are her shoes fabulous and is the satin-ribbon-turned choker totally fun and youthful? 100%. But is this dress anywhere close to special enough for this event? I hate to say it, but no way.

I am totally into her ultra sleek and ultra long ponytail (perhaps the only thing Chinese-inspired about the look) and flawlessly glowing makeup.

Seriously, any other night, this would be a completely different story, but for tonight, it just isn’t enough for me.

Brit Marling: Some dresses just aren’t made to have a ribbed, brown turtleneck sweater worn beneath them. The sleeves may have been necessary because of the chill in the air, but I would have then just opted for another dress. The wild, striped booties also left me puzzled.

Kanye West: Injecting his baggy white tee and slouched denim with a shot of a rich, cabernet hue, the rapper put on a sweater jacket, which thankfully dressed up his low-key look a bit.

Kim Kardashian: Opting for a Givenchy Fall 2015 look, which had its runway debut just days earlier, the newly platinum Kim wore one of the moody, black moments from the collection. The dark, Victorian-esque silhouette featured gathered ruffles and ruched detailing, to which she added door-knocker earrings and cage sandals. Yay or nay on this dramatic K.K. look?

Drinking during pregnancy deemed a no-no — again

Can you drink alcohol while pregnant? Should you? Doctors in the U.K. are changing their advice — yet again — on the recommended amount of alcohol pregnant women can safely consume.

Pregnant women have traditionally been strongly advised to consume zero alcohol during pickedlooks evening dresses. This means no occasional glass of wine during dinner, no beer during the game and definitely no getting drunk. The effects of alcohol consumption on a fetus are well known, so that recommendation is unsurprising. Babies exposed to alcohol in utero can be born with a host of problems, from abnormal facial features to short stature to low birth weight to severe behavioral and developmental disorders. The problem is, experts don’t know exactly how much alcohol consumption can lead to these permanent, lifelong issues, which makes it difficult to say whether any amount of drinking during pregnancy is without risk.

However, in recent years, some studies have shown that light drinking might be A-OK. These studies are never met without controversy, because American medical organizations such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Centers for Disease Control both say there is no guaranteed safe amount.

The advice for pregnant women hasn’t been quite so clear in the U.K., where different government agencies give different recommendations. Many suggest no drinking during the first few months, but after that, they note a few a week shouldn’t harm your baby. Experts there say that this advice can be confusing, especially since the Department of Health says one or two units a week should be OK, but the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence says that pregnant women can drink up to three units per week (after the first trimester) without harm coming to their unborn child.

This advice is no longer considered cool, and a group of British docs wants its government to come up with a streamlined recommendation across all agencies. “Since there is no known safe limit of prenatal alcohol exposure, the only safe drinking message is to entirely abstain from alcohol during pregnancy,” say the experts, who will convene at the British Medical Association’s annual conference this week.

Yes, being told you can’t drink during pregnancy is a huge bummer for those who enjoy a glass of wine every now and then. But I cannot fault the U.K. or any other government agency, because there really isn’t any way to know where the line is between “fine” and “very much not fine” when it comes to your baby’s health.

So, the pendulum is again swinging away from the “light drinking may be OK” school of thought, but it’s still up in the air if it will swing back or not.

Calvin Harris still has ex-girlfriend drama with Rita Ora

Calvin Harris may have moved on with Taylor Swift, but Rita Ora is making sure to remind everyone who had him first.

Ora brought up their relationship during an interview with Marie Claire and she isn’t holding back the dirty details of how the relationship ended.

She explained that while the initial breakup was amicable, things went downhill in the http://www.pickedlooks.com/evening-dresses-c_13/. “There was a reason why I split up with him. And there was a reason why I’m at this point in my life where I feel like I have so much musical freedom, and I don’t have to explain myself to anybody… it was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong.”

But then her single, “I Will Never Let You Down,” which Harris wrote and produced, was released.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest last August, Ora revealed that she wanted to perform the single at the Teen Choice Awards, but Harris wouldn’t let her. “For anybody who doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song, so he has to approve anything TV-wise… and obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”

In the Marie Claire interview, Ora revealed that she felt betrayed because she “thought he had my back.”

But Harris responded to the accusations on Twitter following the Ryan Seacrest interview, explaining, “You’ll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life. But just know I had a damn good reason.”

And while Ora’s throwing some shade at Harris, she also said some things about dating that all women can relate to.

“I’m afraid of being alone,” she said. “I’m not afraid to admit that, you know. I’m not embarrassed to admit that. I just hope it’s not a never-ending cycle. Sometimes love just makes you feel crazy. And that feeling that we have as girls, just to have that feeling, even for five seconds, it’s like crack. I mean, don’t compare it to that, but you know what I mean. It’s like comfort eating.”

As far as pregnancy cravings go, Zea posted a picture of a lavish breakfast consisting of eggs, Canadian bacon and sausage, with the caption, “What’s the over/under on my European weight gain?”

Zea, who also starred in The Following with Kevin Bacon, met her husband when they appeared on the soap opera Passions and have been a couple for 10 years. They got engaged in 2013 in Hawaii and were married last summer.
